Materialism

Monday, October 30th, 2006

There was one main reason I stayed on using the computer, instead of getting interested in other stuff as books (I do read them), fashion items etc.

It was to avoid the ‘materialistic’ trap. That very one trap that leeches that honey-loving cold hard cash slotted neatly in your wallet, one that could cause millions into debt (okay, exaggeration), one that burns a very deep hole into your pocket.

By staying on the computer, I could retrieve and gather information at almost the cost of nothing. I buried myself deeper into the net of information. I then pondered at the question, was I escaping from that trap, or have I been in it and yet not realized?

I do have materialistic needs, probably not as much/little as some others, but I know it’s there. That desire to purchase something of high quality. Who wants lousy, cheap quality things?

I was given a hand-it-down camera. A Canon IXUS v3. It served me loyalty for a term of 10 months since I received it. I love taking photos. It’s like a frame of experience from what I see, saved in digital form to allow others to view. I knew it would died out soon, and on the 10th month, it started giving out signs of old age. I couldn’t do much, except to allow it’s slow death to occur.

Now I’m screwed, as without a camera, I feel like a piece of my life is missing. I can’t take photos of what I think would be a nice photo. An important communication channel to my audience has been taken away. I felt my existance fading away. So many opportunties, yet sadly wasted.

Now as I save up for my needs, it’s a long and hard journey, but it has to be done.

So, have I become materialistic?

Manifest 2006

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

This is the first convention that I have attended in Melbourne. 3rd convention overseas thought :)

I’ll try to post as much as I can remember, as it has been a month since the con.

Got to search for the goodie bags and the membership tags. Probably threw them in some dark corner of my room.

The pictures below are not taken by me, but by Mark <Link> using his Canon DSLR Camera.

Pictures below are resized to be ‘broadband friendly’. Each original image would be around 2-4MB. Resized and compressed using irfanview. You can see the artifacts on teh pictures thought.

Total size of original images: 137MB

Resized: 8MB

Day 2 and 3 pictures are in thumbnails, so click on them to view a bigger and meaner image.

This may contain one or more OMG MY EYES pictures. You have been warned. :)

Now lets let the pictures do the talking :).

Death Note Movie RAW out

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Seems like Death Note Movie RAW is out on the internets :) I have watched it in the cinemas already, so it’s cool.

Death Note (デスノート Desu Nōto?) is a Japanese series originally written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata centering around a young high schooler who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of supernatural sources.

Death Note <Link>

Would you grab it to watch Hikari Mitsushima (Imouto-chan/HAWT) or Erika Toda? (LIEK ZOMJ TWINTAIL, GOTHIC LOLITA AND SHE’S THE SAME AGE AS I AM)

Or for fangirls and fanboys watch it for Tatsuya Fujiwara (Raito - Seems like he acted in both BR movies as well) or Matsuyama Kenichi? (L - He’s tall man.. 180cm)

Or are you just a casual watcher and watching it for the storyline?

Also, the second movie, “Death Note: The Last Name” will be released in Singapore on December 28 2006. I think it has just started airing in Japan.

Anyone willing to donate to the windbell-starter-figurine-fund? I need the moneh! You’ll probably get some nice benefits (LIEK FREE ERM… DON’T KNOW :p).

Fulfillment beyond what’s necessary.

Or the necessity to fulfill?

Over the course of the 18 years in my life. I have made many decisions.. decisions that lead to another mind-blowing decision etc.. What is this butterfly effect? What is the purpose to seek for the core? Or does one need a reset button, in order to fulfill the necessary?

I have met many people, ok maybe not that many. But many people online. People from different walks of life, different cultures, environments, countries, personalities, characters etc. From each, I begin to understand the other even better. Each experience seemed even better than the one before.

I have changed over this span of time. The ever changing attributes to be added or removed. From a mischevious young boy, fighting the arcs of puberty, maturing (still) to a fine person. Each person I met, left either a experience to discard, or one to embrace to.

I have never regretted the decisions I have made. What is there to regret? For one cannot turn back time, and replay like loading a saved game. Yet, enjoy each process and accept the result. Life is a period of animate existance, just that of a unpainted canvas/unsketched art. How would you paint it? How would you sketch it?

So, what is that you desire?
