@Adun: I heard/read that the EF 50mm is really good for it's price. Prime lens. Yeah, I am thinking of doing macro photography, and will need a macro lens. It would be tough saving up for it using my student pay ^^;

I don't really have much of a use for wide-angle lens at the moment, except when I do scenary shots and stuff. Do you have any to recommand?

As for the Speedlite 430EX, I read that it's a mid-range flash unit. But after ebay-ing for the Speedlite 580EX, I realized that the 580EX would be a much better buy as it's just throwing in S$160 more to the cost of a 430EX. I had always thought it would be in the 900 - 1000 price range ^^;

You could have bought a better lens than the one that comes with the twin lens kit. Although I must say it is a good telephotic lens for something basic, especially if you want to do cosplay shoots when they go up on stage. I rarely use my telephoto lens since I don't have much to photograph with it. Not to mention it's bulky so I try not to carry it with me often.

Also I wouldn't waste my money on the EF 50mm, what do you plan on using it for? If you plan to photograph figures you are better off getting a proper macro lens. If you want to try different types of photography, try getting a wide-angle lens. As for the 430EX, it's a very basic Speedlite, but keep in mind something like that is only useful inside. I used the 580EX from a pro photographer and the results are just absolutely amazing. Not to mention the 580EX is a better all rounder, but the only problem is it's size.
