‘Homemade’ Green tea ice cream!
I saw this over at the supermarket over at the Japanese food section the other day. I do know that you can bake cakes and stuff but making your own ice cream seems a little impossible without industrial machines. I was wrong, very wrong. I decided to grab one of these and test them out.
Don’t ask me why there’s only Green Tea flavor available but it seems like the Japanese wants to keep up with their Green tea fetish in any possible way ever ^^;
The instructions are in Japanese but it doesn’t really need translation as you can merely follow the simple illustrations.
Ingredients required:
150ml of Milk (I used Magnolia Fresh Milk)
An egg
The green tea powder packet that is in the boxMachinery/Equipment used:
Electric Mixer
Measuring Cup
Bowl or Container
Pour about 150ml (or cc (cubic centimeters)) of Milk into the measuring cup. Throw it into the electric mixer bowl. Add an egg in, no need to seperate the white and the yolk, and start mixing
I mixed it at a low speed of 2 for about 10 seconds. Once that is done, opened the green tea powder packet.
Threw in the powder and switched the mixer to a speed of 3 (Medium speed) for approx. 2 minutes as said in the instructions.
I was seriously wondering if this was going to work.
Once the mixing is done, I got a greenish mixture which was sorta thick. What’s left is to place it in the freezer for 3 hours (as per instructions)
After 3 hours, it looks like blob-y and wasn’t completely frozen, I threw it in for about another 12 hours.
It froze up really well and I had some trouble scooping the ice cream up.

^ 2 scoops of green tea ice cream with honey-dew fruit by the side.
And here’s the end product! Green tea ice-cream! It tastes kinda nice actually, just that the milk was abit on the heavy side.
