A Small Collection of Photos

It has been 6 months since I acquired the EOS 400D. Over that period, many photos have been taken and of course, experiences gained. Like that famous saying “Practice makes perfect” (Though that’s theoritically incorrect).

Anyway, here’s some pictures (mostly Night photography) over the 6 month span.

This was taken from indoors in a dark room with a tripod. I wanted to capture the busy-ness of the highway at the time of the night.

I took this shot during a night cycling trip of mine. Really like how the lights get nicely reflected on the water. The white light that’s illuminating from the background is from the Golf course that’s about 1KM away.

Many of you readers might have seen this picture (or something similar) on postcards. Oh no, this wasn’t used for any of those photocards.

I took this by the waterfront of Singapore river just like any other photographer out on that same day, trying to capture and frame this shot.

No, there’s nothing wrong with the picture. I was inspired by one of the monochrome out-of-focus Vista wallpapers. Decided to try it out and here’s the result! Currently using it for my desktop. \p/

Alright, that’s all for now. I know this post is rather mundane, with the technical specs and all ^___^;

EOY Illustration Competition: Sparks of Hope

eoyflat_web

Caught this while reading Tiny Red Man’s blog.

As it says, it’s the EOY Illustration Competition: Sparks of Hope. Create an original character based on the theme “Sparks of Hope” and submit your artwork in A4, 300 DPI, and in JPEG format by 7th December 2007.

The top 3 winners will be able to win attractive prizes and and get their artwork featured on Fresh Mode. Fresh Mode is a 100-page monthly comics magazine targeted at teens and young adult comic readers. More information about the competition can be found here.

I’ll be giving this illustration competition a try. It will be my first art competition so I’m rather nervous about it. Need to submit drafts as well so I better ask some of my more art-inclined friends. There’s roughly 3 more weeks till the submission dateline. Hope I can manage my time even better. I’ve still got a 800 words Japanese essay to submit ^^;

So, anyone’s submitting entries for the same competition as well? And oh, may the moe be with you ^o^
