A week in Singapore 5
A look at this week in sunny Singapore.
First photo taken while on the train, also known as the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit).
One thing that is different in Singapore compared to Japan is it’s actually noisy on the trains because people do talk and chat on their phones. It’s ‘rude’ in Japan to talk on your phone while on the train but it doesn’t apply here.
And there are those who do blast their music on the trains here…
Some Lor Mee for lunch. Lor Mee‘s a noodle dish served in thick dark starchy gravy with thick flat yellow noodles. Ingredients usually include, fish meat, pork, ngo hiang (A hokkien dish), half a boiled egg etc. Vinegar is added to give it a slightly sour taste, and pepper as topping.
This one’s from the famous stall along Amoy Street’s foodcourt, reputed to be the best in the city.
Some Crispy noodles for lunch. I don’t know the exact name for it.
It is basically deep fried noodles, with gravy poured over it to soften the noodles after some time. Vegetables, meat and seafood added in as well.
A shop display with Domo-kun, the famous NHK mascot. I remember searching Akihabara and Ikebokuro for Domo-kun’s goods, only to find a small section of it in Animate ORZ

A film crew doing a shoot. I seldom see film crews around. How is it like in your region? Saw lots of photo crews in Japan though.
Some Japanese food for dinner. Tasted horrible though…
At a friend’s place for BBQ. It’s pretty common to have BBQs in Singapore. I usually go if there’s sambal stingray on the list ^^;
A friend of mine who has 3 monitors on his desktop. The larger ones are 30" monitors. Not too sure about the size of the one on the left. Great if you have HD movies or lots of videos for dolphin care.
On the way home. Look, no hands!

And Chilli crabs as well. But I prefer..
Steamed crabs as you get to taste the crab meat more than the chilli.

Great idea to use mannequins to pose instead of having them stand by the shop front. You can feel them up instead if you want too…

I took a look at the S3. It was professional looking, unlike the point-and-shoot cameras. Nice positioning of functions. The only bad thing was it’s small lcd display. A small lcd display would mean that it would be very much difficult to determine if the photo you’ve shot would be clear. It’s tripod stand hole is located somewhat near the middle, which was good.
I’ll probably get this camera soon (I hope.) Still saving up for my wishlist <Link>. Damn, I need money quick.
On the sidenote, I have to bring the 3 Japanese uni student from Osaka to Chinatown tomorrow!

Byousoku 5cm in Singapore
Animation Nation 2007, an annual event that features independent films, starts tomorrow!
One of the main films I’ve gotten tickets for is none other than Makoto Shinkai’s ‘Byousoku 5cm’. Remember just a few months back I was hoping it would come onto the big screens, and the Gods of Anime must have heard me or something and kindly brought it over.
Looks like you had a fun week!!! Wish my week was pretty cool. Still, those food you had looks pretty good….
BBQ is common in Singapore. Wow, I wish it was common here. It’s only common when it’s around the summer time when there is no rain or snow.
There was once a film crew new my house for some movie. Sadly, I didn’t know what movie they were shooting.
People here in Toronto who takes the subway are usually quite or listening to music or talking to each other. It doesn’t get real loud here. It okay I guess.

That photo of the Japanese dinner looks like one of the products from a certain food chain here…Can’t seem to remember the name, through.
@Hyn: Yup, you should. I once saw a sunset so vividly red that it painted the entire sky crimson. Even the very air I breathed had a particular crimson hue to it. It was surreal, I tell you. Just beautiful. Pity I didn’t have a camera with me at the time.
